Jincheon-gun, ‘Cerebrovascular Disease Prevention and Management Week Red Circle’ Campaign

by times news cr

Jincheon-gun is carrying out the ‘Cerebral Vascular Disease Prevention and Management Week Red Circle’ campaign. Jincheon-gun announced that it is operating the ‘Know Your Blood Vessel Number – Red Circle Campaign’ starting from the Deoksan Health Life Support Center on the 2nd for the month of September in line with the Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Management Week.

According to the 2023 military community health survey, the awareness rates of blood pressure and blood sugar levels were 66.9% and 29.5%, respectively, which were lower than Chungbuk’s 68.9% and 36.5%, and the awareness rates of blood pressure and blood sugar levels for the 2030 generation were very low at 56.7% and 20.6%.

Hypertension and diabetes are major risk factors for cardiovascular disease, and if left untreated, can cause serious complications such as myocardial infarction and stroke.

In addition, as the age of onset is younger, the duration of illness is longer and the risk of complications increases, so periodic recognition and management of blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels are necessary.

Accordingly, the military is operating a permanent measurement booth throughout the month of September to intensively encourage the young 2040 generation to measure their blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol.

On the 12th, a ‘Red Circle Zone on Wheels’ was operated in the plaza in front of the Jincheon-eup Administrative Welfare Center, where local residents could receive guidance on measuring their blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels and on preventing and managing cardiovascular diseases.

For the 2040 workforce, we plan to continue the campaign by visiting public institutions and companies such as the National IT Industry Promotion Agency, the Korea Educational Development Institute, SY Energy, and CJ CheilJedang.

In addition, on the 25th, the public health center will invite Professor Lee Young-hee from Chungbuk Health Science University to hold a lecture on ‘Understanding Hypertension and Diabetes and Proper Medication Management’. Those interested can make a reservation by calling the public health center’s visiting health team (☏043-539-7374~6).

A military official said, “We will take the lead in improving awareness of cardiovascular disease by raising awareness of one’s blood pressure and blood sugar levels through the Red Circle Campaign.”
