jpnn.comJAKARTA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) denied the issue of opening sea sand exports carried out by the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag).

The Ministry of Trade opened up sea sand exports after completing the revision of two Minister of Trade Regulations (Permendag).

According to Jokowi, what is exported is not sea sand, but sedimentation that disrupts ship shipping routes.

“Once again, it’s not sea sand, yes. What was opened was sediment. Sediment that disrupts the ship’s path,” said Jokowi, at the Danareksa Tower, Gambir, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (17/9).

The former Governor of DKI Jakarta explained that sediment and sea sand are two different things.

Jokowi said that the sediment is in the form of sand, but it cannot necessarily be called sea sand.

“Once again, no, if translated sand is different, you know. Sediment is different, even though its form is also sand, but sediment. Try reading it there, sediment,” he said.

Previously, the Government of President Joko Widodo through the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) reopened the tap for sea sand exports which had been banned for the past 20 years.
