Busan-Suwon-Changwon time change
As the nationwide heat wave continued during the Chuseok holiday, the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) urgently changed the game start times.
The KBO announced on the 17th, “The three games scheduled for 2 PM on the 18th, LG Twins-Lotte Giants (Busan), Samsung Lions-KT Wiz (Suwon), and Hanwha Eagles-NC Dinos (Changwon), will be delayed from 2 PM to 5 PM.”
Initially, KBO had planned to start games on Sundays and public holidays at 2 p.m. after September. In July and August, games start at 6 p.m., but after September, when the weather gets relatively cooler, the start time was moved up to 2 p.m.
However, as the heat wave continues, large and small accidents have occurred one after another.
Among the spectators, there were cases of heatstroke, and players and referees exposed to the heat on the field also showed symptoms of abnormal physical condition.
On the 17th, the day of Chuseok, when the daytime temperature across the country exceeded 30 degrees, KBO doubled the cleaning time break to 10 minutes.
However, since the 2 o’clock game was scheduled for the 18th, it was difficult to guarantee safety, and eventually the game time was declared to be delayed.
A KBO official explained, “This is a measure that prioritizes the safety of players and spectators.”
