Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has issued an important order to investigate the Smart City project irregularities.
The Central Government’s Smart City project has been launched in several major cities in Tamil Nadu. The DMK has accused the opposition of corruption in tenders for Smart City projects.
Moreover, it campaigned with this in mind during the election campaign as well. Similarly, even after the DMK came to power, Chief Minister Stalin had announced that a commission would be set up to probe the Smart City project scandal that took place during the previous regime.
In this context, the Government of Tamil Nadu has ordered the setting up of a one-man commission to inquire into Smart City project irregularities. The Tamil Nadu government has appointed a one-man inquiry commission headed by retired IAS officer Davidar.
It is said that the Commission of Inquiry will investigate and submit a report within the next 3 months.
