Expatriate Bangladeshis announced the World Cup team

Bangladesh had the opportunity to play T20 World Cup as host at home. But ICC did not take any risk by organizing T20 tournament in Bangladesh under hot political situation. The T20 World Cup is being held in the United Arab Emirates, away from Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the 15-member squad for the World Cup on Wednesday. BCB has shown a difference in the announcement of the team. Expatriate Bangladeshis scattered all over the world announced the names of cricketers who got a chance in the World Cup.

Surbana Sharmin, who is in Canada, announced the name of Nigar Sultana Jyoti as the captain. He also added pacer Marufa Akhtar. Disha Biswas was named by Rubel in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Naseem Dwip Sathi from Melbourne, Australia announced the name of the queen. Sagar Debnath picked Murshida Khatun and Swarna Akhtar from United Arab Emirates. Nahid Islam in Doha, Qatar announced the names of Ritu Moni and Nahida Akhtar.

Akash Rahman from New York announced the names of Sultana Khatun and Sobhana Mostari. Mustafa Islam took Fahima Khatun from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Yasin Chowdhury in Muscat, Oman announced the name of pacer Jahanara Alam. Nasima Tansim joins from Sweden and takes Dilara Akhter, Taj Nehar to the Gold World Cup team. Al-Amin Khan took Rabeya Khan from the Saudi Arabian Riyal.

The Women’s T20 World Cup will be held in the United Arab Emirates from October 3 to October 20. The World Cup was supposed to be held in Bangladesh.

Taj Nehar is a big surprise for the Bangladesh team in the World Cup. Taj got a place in the World Cup by performing well in domestic cricket. He scored 94 runs in 4 innings at a strike rate of 102.71 in the last T20 edition of the National Cricket League. Earlier, he scored 234 runs in 8 matches in the Premier League. Besides, he scored 24 runs in 4 innings in the ongoing tour of ‘A’ team in Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh will face Scotland in the opening match on October 3 in Sharjah. Bangladesh’s other three opponents in Group ‘B’ are England (October 5), West Indies (October 10) and South Africa (October 12). Bangladesh will play two warm-up matches against Sri Lanka on September 28 and Pakistan on September 30 before the start of the tournament.
