Montana Municipality will withdraw a loan from the FLAG fund for ecological urban transport

The municipality of Montana will apply for two loans from the FLAG fund, financing under the project “Mobility and green transport for the municipalities of Vratsa and Montana”

A public hearing was held today on the parameters of the debt. Deputy Mayor Tihomir Antonov presented a summary of the project, which is implemented under the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan (NRSP). The purpose of its implementation is to support sustainable urban mobility in the municipality of Montana through measures for the development of ecological, safe, functional and energy-efficient transport systems. The other important side is that it will save public resource and improve connectivity between urban and rural areas. The project lasts 24 months and has a total value of BGN 11,113,229.97 for the municipalities of Vratsa and Montana, of which 10% is co-financed by the two municipalities.

For the Municipality of Montana, the value of the investment is BGN 4,703,290.26, of which BGN 3,520,197.23 is a grant and BGN 1,183,093.03 is the own contribution of the Municipality of Montana / incl. BGN 799,639.03 VAT – recoverable through the National Revenue Agency and BGN 383,454 own contribution.

The two loans from the FLAG fund will be used to implement own financing and participation. The first loan is a short-term loan in the amount of BGN 1 million, which will be repaid in 12 months. The second loan is long-term, in the amount of BGN 384 thousand and will be repaid by April 30, 2028.

At the public hearing, Deputy Mayor Tihomir Antonov announced that the Municipality of Montana already has a contract for the supply of 6 electric buses and the supply and installation of 8 charging stations for them.

The buses will be electric, low-floor, 6 m long, with two axles, category M2 or M3, and are new. They will be owned by the municipality of Montana and will be leased to the operator designated to service the city lines.

The eight charging stations will be located in three locations. Four slow charging stations will be installed on “Morava” street opposite the traffic police. They will have a total power of 80 kw, each 20 kw. Two slow charging stations will be installed on “Vasil Levski” street next to the Montana bus station. They will have a total provided power of 40 kw, each 20 kw. Two fast charging stations will be installed on “Montana” Blvd. They will have a total provided power of 160 kw, each 80 kw.

The electric buses and charging stations for them will be delivered and installed in the second half of 2025.

In the next five years, under another European project, the municipality of Montana will provide 7 more electric buses.
