This operation will benefit some 8,700 families in the Azilal province from 9 predominantly rural and mountainous communes that have been severely affected by falling temperatures.
The operation began in the province at the level of the commune of Ait Abbas where two distribution points were deployed in the douars of Abaaziz and Tifalouine.
The first day was marked by the distribution of a total of 306 kits in the Abaaziz douar and 97 others in Tifalouine where a significant human and logistical force was deployed to provide kits of basic food items and blankets to populations affected by the harsh climate.
This operation was carried out in close coordination with all the stakeholders concerned, in particular the Ministry of the Interior and local authorities who lent a helping hand to the Foundation in order to facilitate the delivery of the kits under favorable conditions.
In a statement to MAP, Souad Boulouiz, Project Manager at the Foundation, stressed that the Mohammed V Foundation has mobilized its teams since the early hours of this Thursday as well as all the necessary logistical means to deliver food and blankets to the populations affected by the extreme cold in Azilal, noting that the launch of this operation was done from the commune of Ait Abbas where two distribution zones were set up for the distribution of some 403 kits.
In statements to MAP, the inhabitants of the douars of Abaaziz and Tifalouine (commune of Ait Abbas) praised the high concern with which the Sovereign surrounds the population of the province of Azilal known for its inclement climate during the winter season, stressing the permanent interest that the Sovereign grants to this dear part of the Kingdom to come to its aid in these difficult times.
HM King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, gave His High Instructions for the immediate launch of the “Grand Froid” solidarity action in favor of rural populations exposed to the significant drop in temperatures in the provinces of the Grand and Middle Atlas, indicates a press release from the Foundation.
A significant human and logistical force will be deployed in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior and local authorities so that humanitarian aid is delivered to the many families from the douars and remote areas, according to the same source.
Each household will benefit from a support kit consisting of food products (flour, rice, sugar, tea, salt, oil and powdered milk) and blankets.
