The Piacere per Tutti Association, in collaboration with the Rehabilitation Department of the ASL of Lecce, presented the second edition of the Piacere per Tutti Day. The press conference to present the event, which will take place on 21 and 22 September at the Hotel Leone di Messapia, and which enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Lecce and the ASL of Lecce, took place this morning at Aula 2 Polo didattico ASL – via Miglietta 5, in Lecce.

The President of the Piacere per Tutti association spoke during the conference, Serena GrassoDr. Blue Carriage (scientific manager of the event), Dr. Christina Del Prete (Director of the rehabilitation department of the ASL Lecce) and Dr. Francesca Cafarella(rehabilitation psychologist ASL Lecce). Also present were the general manager Stephen Rossithe Health Director of the ASL Lecce Mary Nacci and the Councilor for Social Services of the Municipality of Lecce Andrea Guido.

“The right to be informed about sexuality and sexual health is a right for everyone. Conferences, seminars, interventions in schools, hospitals, universities and in the square, exhibitions and meetings are welcome. Or complete and structured events like this one – says Councilor Guido – I am sure that Saturday will be a beautiful evening and I hope that the initiative continues to grow, as it is already happening, considering that we are already at the second edition. The different forms of disability have in common the fact that they are often associated with a dimension of asexuality, but this is obviously not the case. Sexuality in disability is configured as a very complex theme and for this reason it is important to know the point of view of the experts”.

“With reference to people with disabilities, there is a need to break down every kind of barrier. One of the most dangerous and invisible is the psychological barrier, made up of prejudices and stereotypes that exist against them – says Dr. Cafarella – Prejudices generate disbelief towards the sexual desire that a person with disabilities can feel and label them as: “Asexual angel” “Eternal child”. Unfortunately, there are still physical, relational and emotional barriers that do not allow people with disabilities to express their sexuality and sexual needs. Awareness is therefore fundamental and represents a powerful means to break down stereotypes and prejudices. Public opinion must be made aware of inclusion”.

“We are happy to support this event that allows people with disabilities to live their pleasure – explains Dr. Del Prete – As a Rehabilitation Department we immediately connected with Serena Grasso’s association, but also with others present in the area, so that when our health intervention ends, the social one can take over, providing continuous care and assistance”.

The second edition of Piacere per Tutti day, we remind you, will take place on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September 2024, at the Hotel Leone di Messapia, in Lecce. It will be a long weekend dedicated to accessible sexual well-being that will host people with disabilities and their caregivers coming not only from Salento and the rest of Puglia, but also from other Italian locations: such as La Spezia, Rome, Parma.

It will all start on Saturday, September 21st starting at 8:00 pm with an evening (free admission) dedicated to wellness that will include: information, shows, music and moments of conviviality to have fun and socialize together. And everything will be translated into LIS. The second day instead (Sunday, September 22nd) will be dedicated to the sensorial experience of holistic massage for 10 people with severe disabilities (men and women) who signed up in the previous months through a public form on the website of our volunteer organization.

The goal of the event? Quickly said: “The achievement of sexual well-being – says the president Serena Grasso – for people with neuromotor disabilities can be hindered by cultural barriers or physical impediments. Therefore we want to break down taboos, provide information on the sexual well-being of people with disabilities by professionals from outside the region and the territory, create an inclusive and fun atmosphere for the entire community and give people with severe disabilities a sensory experience through holistic massage supported by equally professional figures. But obviously Saturday evening will also be full of fun with the comedy of Piero Ciakky, with lots of music and a desire to smile”.
