While the administrators of Emilia-Romagna spent the night managing the emergency, organizing relief and supporting the population, the right-wing government immediately began to engage in political scavenging for electoral purposes”. This was stated by PD secretary Elly Schlein. “Giorgia Meloni had, more than a year ago, made a useless catwalk with her boots in the mud to promise 100% compensation to families and businesses that never arrived. They did not provide adequate resources”. The government “is indecent before being ridiculous”. For Schlein, the government “wasted two months to nominate a Commissioner on whom they concentrated all the prerogatives and powers; they identified the army, in Rome, as the commissioner structure despite the territory, they wanted to centralize at all costs and now they are unloading responsibilities and problems onto local administrators”.
