He Mexico City Congress received from the head of Government, Marti Batres, four initiatives in matters of reconstruction, regulation of accommodation spaces through digital platforms, sanctions for the sale of alcoholic beverages in public places and breaking seals on buildings, as well as social welfare.

The first initiative submitted by the capital’s leader proposes a modification to article 26 of the Law for Comprehensive Reconstruction, the objective of which is to allow re-densification of residential spaces to be used through sale, rental or commercialization.

The second initiative seeks to modify the Tourism and Housing Laws to regulate Airbnb-type accommodation spaces, with the proposal that those places that have presented an annual occupancy of more than 50% in their nights cannot renew their registration until the following year.

Likewise, social housing and housing that is part of a reconstruction program may not be used for tourist accommodation, thus guaranteeing its previously established support objective.

As part of the fight against the sale of alcoholic beverages in public places, the third proposal submitted by Batres refers to a modification to the Law on Civic Culture and the Penal Code, which seeks to apply sanctions to those who distribute this type of substances through purchase, since they represent activities that violate the right to the safety of citizens.

It should be noted that sanctions will also be imposed on those who violate the suspension or closure seals placed on buildings or properties, which will be from 6 to 12 years in prison for owners or those responsible.

On the other hand, the fourth proposal of the Head of Government is about a modification to the third article of the Constitution of Mexico City to ensure that the State guarantees its responsibility for social welfare.
