The KBS ‘Music Bank’ overseas concert, which was scheduled to be held at the home stadium of Spanish soccer club Real Madrid next month, has been suddenly canceled by the club, sparking controversy.
The Music Bank production team released a statement on the 20th, saying, “We deeply regret Real Madrid’s unilateral decision to cancel the concert,” and “We cannot accept the club’s unfair and arbitrary decision without prior consultation.” The production team requested that the concert be resumed, and also demanded that Real Madrid take moral and financial responsibility if the concert is canceled.
‘Music Bank’ was scheduled to hold the concert ‘Music Bank in Madrid’ at Real Madrid’s home stadium, Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, in Madrid, Spain on the 12th of next month. Groups ENHYPEN, aespa, BOYNEXTDOOR, RIIZE, NMIXX, and KISS OF LIFE were scheduled to appear, and the production team revealed that a total of 33,000 fans from 87 countries purchased tickets.
On the 13th, Real Madrid announced through local Spanish media that “all music performances scheduled to be held at the home stadium until March of next year will be canceled due to continuous noise complaints from local residents.” The production team stated that they were not notified of this in advance. As news of the cancellation of the “Music Bank in Madrid” performances spread, K-pop fans are demanding the resumption of the performances through social networking services (SNS) and internet petition sites.
