Today, Thursday, President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid honored the athletes who won various medals and advanced positions in the Paralympic Games that recently concluded in the French capital, Paris. This came during their reception at the Peace Palace in Baghdad.
A statement by the media department of the Presidency of the Republic received by the (INA) stated that “the President of the Republic praised the great achievements made by the champion athletes in the Paralympic Games, and their raising of the name of Iraq high in international sports forums, to become a source of pride for all Iraqis,” noting that “our heroes presented the most wonderful images of courage and challenge in various circumstances.”
He added, “The heroine Najla Imad dealt a big blow to terrorism when she challenged her circumstances to win the gold medal, reflecting the determination and courage of Iraqi women, alongside other heroes who achieved outstanding results.”
He continued, “The President appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Olympic Committee, the Paralympic Committee, the training staff, and everyone who contributed to achieving these great results, stressing the importance of continuing to support Iraqi sports and athletes and developing them at all levels.”
