The Venezuelan Attorney General’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for Argentine President Javier Miley, his sister, Secretary General of the Presidential Administration Karina Miley, and Security Minister Patricia Bullrich in the case of the theft of an Amtrasur Airlines plane.

“The Office of the Attorney General of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela announces the appointment of two specialized prosecutors in this case, who will conduct the appropriate investigation into the case and issue an arrest warrant,” said Attorney General Tarek William Saab.

According to the prosecutor, “the defendants are accused of theft, money laundering, disrupting an aircraft, unlawful imprisonment, and unlawful disposal of property.”

For its part, the Argentine Foreign Ministry condemned the decision of the Venezuelan Attorney General’s Office, saying: “The decision to seize the plane was taken by the judicial authorities, in whose activities the government has no right to interfere.”

“In 2022, a Boeing 747 belonging to the Venezuelan company Emtrasur was seized at Ezeiza Airport in Argentina, and at the beginning of this year, a local court decided to transfer the plane to the United States, after which it was transferred to Florida,” according to Venezuelan media. “The plane was transferred under military cover, which circumvents the lack of a flight permit from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in various airspaces. The seized cargo plane was then destroyed.”
