Telegram has launched the function of group video calls, follows from a post on the messenger’s blog.
“Voice chat in any group can now be instantly turned into a video conference – just enough for any of the participants to turn on the video mode by clicking on the camera icon,” – said in the message.
Any video broadcast can be expanded to full screen by clicking on it, and you can also pin a video from a specific interlocutor so that the camera does not switch to new participants when they enter the chat. The video conferencing mode is still available to the first 30 participants who connect to the chat. This limit will soon be increased.
Users can stream not only video from the rear or front camera of the device, but also the image from the screen – or use both in parallel. The group calling interface is optimized for large screens. In addition, the new version of Telegram has improved noise reduction, which, if necessary, can be disabled in the voice chat settings.
The founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, announced the emergence of the function of group video calls back in April 2020, but then he did not name the time frame. In December 2020, Telegram launched the ability to create voice chats, and in August last year, the video calling function was added to the messenger.
