Artificial intelligence (AI) has been mentioned for quite some time now in various contexts, including business. The company you represent in Latvia – SAP – is one of those that offers artificial intelligence solutions on a global scale. What is your vision behind these words and what is needed to start using artificial intelligence?
When we say artificial intelligence and SAP, we always mean SAP Business AI. If you look back, SAP, which is a company with more than 50 years of history, focused on automating various business processes and offering solutions to its customers 40 years ago, and the steps taken at that time can be called the first steps in the direction of business AI. So to the question, what exactly is AI from a business point of view, I would answer that it is a new level of automation, a new generation of automation, designed for business processes.
In order for any AI to exist and solve the tasks set for it, this intelligence, in turn, needs information or data. If simplified, then AI is nothing more than a set of algorithms, with the help of which certain data are processed in a predetermined way. There is an enormous amount of data in today’s world, and its volume is almost doubling every year. One such data is public data, as used by publicly available AIs. The latter in their algorithms – both when performing specific tasks and for self-training – use information from Google or other searchers, from other publicly available databases. In addition, these data are not always correct and reliable, and this sometimes leads to the fact that seemingly simple questions are given answers that do not correspond to reality. Over time, in the course of self-learning of MI, the number of such responses naturally decreases, however, whether it is possible to avoid it completely, we do not know.
