On September 18, a delegation of evacuated Galilee residents, organized on the initiative of former Israeli Ambassador to the United States Michael Oren, arrived in Washington to meet with members of the US Senate and Congress.

The purpose of the visit is to convey to American lawmakers information about the difficult situation in northern Israel and the difficulties faced by tens of thousands of residents evacuated from their homes due to the outbreak of hostilities.

Republican Congressman Lindsey Graham told the Israelis: “We fully support you and will provide you with everything you need to continue your just fight.”

During the visit, the delegation will also take part in an event organized by the American Jewish Committee. In addition, the Israelis will hold meetings with diplomats from the United Arab Emirates, Great Britain, Germany, Italy and Japan, as well as with representatives of the American State Department.

“The American public and decision makers in the United States are not very familiar with what is happening on Israel’s northern border, so I decided to bring to Washington a delegation of evacuees from the north who will explain the situation first-hand and emphasize to members of Congress and the international media the high price they are paying due to the incessant shelling by Hezbollah. We must increase our international legitimacy now, before Israel launches a major campaign in Lebanon, and I hope this delegation will help in this,” said former Israeli Ambassador to the United States Michael Oren.
