Gruma promotes sustainable white corn with CIMMYT

With the goal of promoting the production of white corn for human consumption in entities such as Sonora and SinaloaGruma and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) teach the Certified Technician Course in Sustainable Agriculture.

This course was designed by specialized technicians in agricultural sustainabilityand it is a direct response to the current challenges facing agriculture at a global level, where everything from food security to the climate change.

The “Sustainability Project of Gruma: Promoting Sustainable Agri-Food Systems in Intensive Production Schemes”, is aimed at building a model capable of measuring the degree of sustainability in the production of white corn, with a particular focus on agricultural areas of both Sonora y Sinaloa.

The goal is to conclude in June 2025 with a solid scheme that not only defines what sustainability is in these contexts, but also identifies areas of opportunity and encourages the adoption of agricultural practices more sustainable for domestic farmers.

Participants in the course will not only receive theoretical training, but will also will benefit of a practical approach that will allow the adaptation and dissemination of technologies based on regenerative agriculture.
