The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province enjoyed a safe Chuseok holiday without any medical accidents. It was confirmed that the emergency medical system in the Jeonbuk region operated without a hitch during the Chuseok holiday period (September 14-18), helping the residents enjoy the holiday safely without any major medical accidents.

According to the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province on the 19th, the medical facilities that operated during the Chuseok holiday in the Jeonbuk region were 20 emergency medical institutions and 1,928 hospitals and pharmacies.

The 14 cities and counties activated their emergency medical situation rooms to check whether these medical facilities were operating normally, and as a result, it was confirmed that all medical facilities were operating normally, providing stable medical services to local residents and visitors returning home.

During the period, a total of 7,281 patients visited 20 emergency medical institutions in the province, and 958 emergency patients were successfully transferred.

Public medical institutions such as local health centers, health subcenters, and health clinics operated under an emergency work system, treating a total of 311 patients and providing essential medical services to residents.

Jeonju Suwon Hospital also quietly did its best in its own position, actively providing treatment to amputee finger patients transferred from other regions.

In particular, the Doctor Helicopter (emergency medical helicopter) deployed and operated at Wonkwang University Hospital played an important role in saving lives by urgently transporting patients with severe trauma during the holiday period.

The Jeonbuk Autonomous Province analyzed that the reason it was able to conclude the Chuseok holiday without any major medical accidents was due to the dedicated efforts of medical staff, paramedics, and public medical institution officials, and that residents voluntarily used local hospitals and clinics and refrained from using emergency rooms.

In fact, the number of emergency room users during this Chuseok holiday (7,281) is a decrease of about 10% compared to the number of users during Chuseok last year (8,124).

Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Welfare and Women’s Health Bureau Director Hwang Cheol-ho said, “Thanks to the successful operation of the emergency medical system during this Chuseok holiday, residents were able to enjoy the holiday safely,” adding, “I would like to thank all the medical staff, paramedics, and public medical institution staff who worked hard in the field, and also thank the residents who gave up emergency rooms to critically ill patients.”

He also added, “We will continue to strengthen the emergency medical system to protect the lives and health of our citizens and make continuous efforts to provide faster and more effective medical services.”
