Following the terrorist attack on a military base in Arauca, authorities implemented a series of urgent measures to restore order and capture those responsible for the attack, which has been attributed to the Domingo Laín Sáenz War Front of the National Liberation Army (ELN), led by alias Raúl.
In an extraordinary Security Council, held to assess the situationmilitary intelligence confirmed that alias Raúl is the ringleader behind the attack that has triggered a strong response from the State. During the meeting, the authorities announced several strategic actions to guarantee security in the region and arrest those involved in this terrorist act.
Key measures taken after the attack
Reward of 100 million pesos:The Government offered this sum to any citizen who provides information that allows the capture or neutralization of alias Raúl or the perpetrators of the attack.

ELN Responsibility: The attack has been attributed to alias Raúl, commander of the Domingo Laín Sáenz War Front of the ELN. The Colombian Military Forces reaffirmed their decision to act with all their capacity against this armed group, since there is currently no ceasefire decree in force.
Most Wanted Poster: The National Police will create a list of the most wanted criminals in the department, in order to encourage citizen reporting and facilitate the capture of more members of the armed group.
Captures and prosecution: Two people have been arrested in connection with the attack and are already in the process of being brought to trial. Hearings for the indictment are ongoing, and investigations are expected to continue to fully clarify the incident.
Increase in intelligence operations: Authorities have stepped up investigative efforts in the region to identify and arrest more perpetrators, as well as to carry out raids to dismantle the ELN’s criminal structures.
Military reinforcements on the way
Within the framework of Plan 16 thousand, which seeks to strengthen the military presence in high-risk areas, the announcement was made Arrival of 30 new platoons to the department of Arauca during 2024, which equates to approximately 500 additional soldiers who will join security operations. The military stressed in its statement that it will spare no effort to capture those responsible and ensure security in the department.
