Politico newspaper reported that the US authorities are deploying additional forces in Alaska, justifying this by saying that Russia and China have begun to operate more actively and effectively in the aforementioned region.

The newspaper said: “American forces are gradually strengthening their presence near the Alaska region, and the United States has sent a naval destroyer and a military unit equipped with a long-range missile system, and this comes at a time when tensions are increasing the size of the Alaskan coastline due to increased military activity by Russia and China.”

The newspaper continued: “Last month, the destroyer was sent Steroid Near the coast of Alaska, in response to Russian Navy activity in the region, a US Army unit was deployed to a remote island off Alaska, and the fighter squadron stationed there was put on alert.

The newspaper quoted Republican Senator Dan Sullivan (from Alaska) as saying that “Russia and China have recently begun to make more maneuvers in the region,” asking “the American authorities to develop the military infrastructure in Alaska.”

The North American Aerospace Defense Command said it tracked two Russian Air Force planes out of Alaska on September 13 and noted that both planes were flying in international airspace and did not violate US or Canadian airspace.
