The Bayer Leverkusen had a dream year last season, clinching two titles and suffering only one loss throughout the campaign, which was in the final of the Europa League against Atalanta. In the 2024/25 season, it seems that the great form continues. Right from the kickoff of the Champions League, the team showcased its strength and thrashed Feyenoord 4-0, playing away from home this Thursday (19).
From the very first minutes, it was clear that “there was no game” between the two rivals. The visitors took the lead early, just 5 minutes in, with the gem Florian Wirtz, who struck from outside the box to make it 1-0.

At the 30-minute mark, the second goal came from Grimaldo, following a cross from Frimpong. Six minutes later, Wirtz scored again, thanks to another perfect cross from Frimpong.
Before the break, there was one more. After a header from Tapsoba, goalkeeper Wellenreuther made a huge mistake and ended up scoring an own goal.
With the significant advantage gained in the first 45 minutes, the Germans managed the game and debuted in the world’s main club competition with a thrashing.
Both teams are now focusing on their national leagues and will return to Champions League action at the beginning of next month. Leverkusen will host Milan on October 1, while the following day Feyenoord will visit Girona.
