Intervene to get students out of Russia: CM – KERALA – POLITICS

by time news

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has written to the Prime Minister demanding immediate intervention to get the students stranded in Ukraine safely out of Russia. The Prime Minister must immediately contact the Russian leadership to prepare a safe passage for students. The co-operation of the concerned governments and voluntary organizations including the Red Cross should be ensured for the supply of water and food.

Evacuation efforts so far have focused mainly on the western regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv. But thousands of students are stranded in eastern regions such as Kharkiv and Sumi. The war has intensified there. It does not provide students with precise guidelines on what to do in this situation. In its absence, many students are trying to move to the western region on their own. This poses a great challenge to their lives.

The Chief Minister thanked the Central Government for its intervention through ‘Operation Ganga’. So far 244 students have returned to Kerala.
