Diphtheria was diagnosed in three children and one adult. All cases are interconnected. Epidemiological investigation and implementation of anti-epidemic measures are ongoing.

Edgars Mednis, a doctor at the Ågenskalns clinic, reported on the “Telegram” website on Saturday morning that on Friday afternoon the parents used their rights set out in the Patient Rights Act and made a decision to refuse their daughter’s further “treatment” at the Children’s Clinical University Hospital (BKUS). took out.

“Such a decision is based on the justified concerns of the parents that the health and life of the daughters may also be harmed, as happened with the little brother, who, in the opinion of the parents, was “treated” to death,” the statement said.

SPKC emphasizes that insufficient vaccination coverage creates a risk of outbreak of diphtheria and spread of infection. Complications of diphtheria seriously threaten the health and life of especially unvaccinated patients.
