LondonKatherine Perez Shakdam, who closely observes the workings of the Iranian government, has said that the western countries are not taking Tehran seriously, and this may cost them dearly. Katherine, a woman who infiltrated the Iranian regime, has warned that the West is showing arrogance and is failing to take the threat of Iran seriously. Katherine Perez Shakdam is a Jew who grew up in Paris. She spent nearly a decade in Iran as a spy by hiding her identity and obtained important information related to the regime. Katherine met almost all the big leaders of Iran during this period.
Speaking to the Sunday Telegraph in London, journalist and social activist Catherine said that her experience in Iran shows that Iran’s penetration in the West is much deeper than people believe. The Iranian regime has a network in Britain. High-ranking members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) constantly come and go here under the guise of working for British charities, think-tanks and education centers. All these people are part of a system that reports directly to Iran and takes orders from Iran.

‘They are trying to hijack our institutions’

Katherine further said, ‘Iran’s network keeps an eye on what is happening in Britain. They have also succeeded in creating a powerful lobby here. This is dangerous because they want to hijack our institutions. As they have done in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Iraq. They want to do this everywhere and have been successful in it. However, somewhere the West is not taking this threat seriously due to arrogance.

Perez Shakdam moved to Yemen in 2009 and criticized the US intervention in Iraq in an article for the Yemen Observer, drawing the ire of Ayatollah Khomeini. She said the Iranian regime contacted her thinking she was on their side. She was requested to appear as a commentator on Iran-backed media channels, where she was asked to criticize the West. Shakdam believes she received an invitation to attend a conference in Tehran in 2017. After this, she made frequent visits to Tehran. During her visit to Iran, Shakdam came across information about prominent figures of the Jewish diaspora being ‘mapped’ and marked for assassinations and attacks.

Iran rejects West’s appeal

Shakdam’s remarks came at a time when Iran rejected the call of Keir Starmer and other Western leaders not to attack Israel. The US, Britain, France, Italy and Germany in a joint letter called on Tehran to withdraw. On this, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that no objection was raised from your side to Israel’s action, while it has violated Tehran’s sovereignty.

After the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran’s capital Tehran last month, the Iranian government has said that it will not bow down to any pressure or threat and will take revenge for this attack. Due to this, West Asia is currently standing on the brink of war.
