For better or worse

Ten days after the defeat of the Syli national against Tanzania during the second day of the qualifiers for the CAN-2025 (African Cup of Nations), the transitional board at the head of the Guinean team has been reorganized. Until then led by the former assistant of Kaba Diawara, Charles Paquille, Serhou Guirassy and his teammates will now be coached by the former coach of the Syli national, the French Michel Dussuyer. The information was made official during a press briefing hosted this Saturday, September 21 at the headquarters of the Guinean Football Federation by Ibrahima Blasco Barry and Mohamed Lappé Bangoura respectively, general secretary and national technical director of Féguifoot.

According to Lappé Bangoura, the transitional board set up after Kaba Diawara’s dismissal has been reorganized: exit Charles Paquille, sidelined from the technical staff. It is now Michel Dussuyer, former coach of the Syli, who acted as team coordinator, who returns as coach of the national A team for the next Syli matches until another is appointed. In this task, he will be assisted by the Guinean Mamadou Sylla, alias Gaucher and the Frenchman, Alain Ravera. The former goalkeeper turned coach coached Guinea from 2002 to 2004. He returned in 2010, after a break during which he lent his services to Côte d’Ivoire and Benin, for a longer period of five ending with a resignation the day after the elimination of the Syli national in the quarter-finals of the 2015 CAN. And here he is back again, almost ten years later.

The reorganized group of the national team will soon be put to the test. The next two matches of the Syli national will be played on October 10 and 14 in Ivory Coast, counting for the third and fourth days of the qualifiers for the final phase of the African Cup of Nations which will be played in Morocco.
