“In a world where several challenges, particularly in health, persist, the use of digitalization and innovative solutions has become imperative to improve the performance of health systems and make them more equitable and more sustainable,” stressed Mr. Ait Taleb in a speech read on his behalf by the Director of Planning and Financial Resources at the Ministry of Health on the occasion of the inauguration of the “World Future Health Africa” congress.
He also noted that “Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a tool designed to support our healthcare professionals, not replace them,” noting that while AI offers data-based recommendations, “the final decision always remains the responsibility of the healthcare professional.”
This involvement of the health professional guarantees the human and personalized character of medicine, said Mr. Aït Taleb, noting that the development of digitalization in health is a means of further promoting patient-centered local medicine.
In this sense, he cited telemedicine, which offers access to health care, thereby overcoming geographical and temporal barriers to access to care and ensuring better diagnosis and care.
Artificial Intelligence, he continued, “today offers relevant analysis tools to improve prevention, diagnosis, treatment and health care management.”
It also contributes to optimizing hospital resources, reducing patient waiting times, and improving the efficiency of care, Mr. Aït Taleb noted.
Morocco has ensured that digitalization and artificial intelligence are integrated ethically and efficiently into the health system, the aim being to strengthen the quality and accessibility of care, while preserving and promoting the essential role of the health professional, he said.
Thus, as part of the digitalization project in the sector, Morocco is working to set up an integrated and intelligent national health information system based on the patient’s electronic medical record, the minister said.
On the other hand, Mr. Aït Taleb indicated that the health sector in Morocco is in full swing of operationalizing public-private partnerships with a view to promoting equitable access to quality health care.
The African continent is invited today to fully integrate into this dynamic of technological transformation and digital progress which offers a promising path towards its economic and social development, the minister stressed.
“World Future Health Africa” aims to be a platform for exchanges and discussions around innovation and collaboration in favor of the health of tomorrow.
