Travel YouTuber Panibottle (real name Park Jae-han), with about 2.3 million subscribers, has stated his position, “I am neither a public figure nor a celebrity,” after being criticized for sending abusive language in an Instagram direct message (DM) with a netizen. Previously, a netizen sent Panibottle a DM pointing out that Panibottle uploaded an Instagram story at a time when his close friend, YouTuber Kwak Tube (real name Kwak Jun-bin), was embroiled in controversy.

On the 21st, Pannibottle said on Instagram, “There are many people who are worried about the swearing DMs. Some people say, ‘Can a public figure swear like that?’ and ‘You can’t go on TV,’ but I’m just a freeloader who hangs out.”

He said, “Broadcasting is just like a party to me. It’s so much fun and great, but I can’t do it every day for the rest of my life because it’s fun. It’ll end someday.”

He continued, “I will continue to do as much as I can, but I don’t have any regrets. I will just live my life in my own style,” and added, “I would like to ask you, if it is a little presumptuous, to evaluate things according to your own thoughts rather than following articles or public opinion.”

He added, “I’ve received so many encouraging DMs. I’m always grateful.”

On the 17th, the DM exchange between Panibottle and a netizen was spread through online communities. Netizen A said, “Are you still posting this story after seeing KwakTube go to hell? Are you saying that as long as you eat well and live well, it doesn’t matter if the people around you go to hell or not? You should go to hell too, hyung.”

In response, Pannibottle sent a reply mixed with insults such as, “You don’t even have the confidence to reveal my face and real name, so why are you picking a fight?”, “Did I send you to hell?”, “You ruined XX’s life”, and “Go catch that XX.”

Kwak Tube was embroiled in controversy after making remarks that seemed to defend actress Lee Na-eun, formerly of the group April, who was suspected of bullying, in his YouTube video. Afterwards, he removed the video from his channel and apologized, saying, “I realize that I was ignorant and reckless, and I am deeply reflecting on it,” and “I failed to carefully consider the part where I could have caused further harm to the victim due to my arrogant and wrong judgment.”
