This is how the long-time municipal councilor from “United for Plovdiv”, and earlier from “Causa Plovdiv” and even earlier from SDS, Konstantin Georgiev, reacted to the intention that the Home of the Newlyweds should become part of the Natural History Museum, which is next door .

There is no official announcement from the municipality that this will become a fact, but the director of the exhibition Ognyan Todorov admits that the existing building on “Hristo G. Danov” street is narrow.

The building of the Natural History Museum in Plovdiv is very old, it was built for the first town hall after the Liberation. It has been expanded and renovated in recent years, but it is cramped for the museum’s exposition, which is constantly increasing.

Georgiev is emotionally connected to “Joyful Rites” because years ago his mother worked there and poured fire and brimstone against the intention. There are also associates who believe that the emblematic building, where thousands of couples have said “I do”, should remain a ritual destination.

“The Young Women’s Home is a wonderful place with wonderful people. In it we found an exhibition of a very talented artist – M. Daskalova. We will start a petition against the extremely ill-conceived idea that the building should no longer be a Young Women’s Home,” the councilor threatened.

The zoologist ch. Associate Professor Ognyan Todorov, under whose management the Natural History Museum experienced unprecedented prosperity, reacted to Georgiev’s words, calling them absurd.

“The Natural History Museum is not an eel farm, nor do we intend to turn any building into an eel farm. All kinds of animals can be seen in the museum. It is a place to get knowledge and emotions. It is insulting to call this institution an eel”Todorov is concerned.

And it explains that the exposure has reached its maximum expansion. The former “Lotus” hall, where secular baptisms were performed during socialism, has long been a part of the museum.

The director of the Natural History Museum, Ognyan Todorov, was happy that Hristo Stoichkov personally visited the exhibition.

“We have asked the municipality for assistance. In recent years, we have been experiencing enormous difficulties to accommodate the ever-increasing interest in the museum. We are constantly returning people who have come from different parts of the country. The idea of ​​the extension is related to large and attractive stuffed animals such as elephant, rhinoceros, hippopotamus, antelope, giraffe and many others, with which we will become one of the leading natural history museums in Europe. Regardless of which building, we don’t intend to turn anything into an eel pit“, the director of a museum is offended.
