Achim Troster, the German ambassador in Dhaka, said his country would support the reform initiatives of the interim government and provide 600 million euros for Bangladesh’s renewable energy.

He said Germany has a long-standing relationship with Bangladesh and has become one of the country’s largest development partners in recent years with over one billion euros in aid.
Troster said German support to Bangladesh will be demand-driven. Germany has already offered 50 million euros in renewable energy support to Bangladesh. Germany to loan 600 million euros over eight years for renewable energy.
Mentioning that it is a privileged programme, he said, Bangladesh is one of the few countries that have received this project assistance.
During the meeting, Chief Adviser Professor Yunus recalled his long friendship with German leaders, saying he often attended the Berlin Wall fall anniversaries.
He also sought more German investment in Bangladesh and expertise and technology assistance in the fight against corruption.
The Chief Adviser said the nation is united behind the students and youth ushering in a new era of hope for the country.

Seeking more private German funding for renewable energy and green transition, Professor Yunus said his government is keen to remove any barriers to German investment in Bangladesh.
Chief Adviser’s Special Envoy Lutfe Siddiqui briefed the German Ambassador about the reforms of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority.
He said, German and Bangladeshi firms can create green corridors.
