Government Council: presentation on the international convention for the protection of persons from enforced disappearance
Rabat – The Government Council followed, on Thursday, a presentation on the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance and the 5th periodic report on the implementation of the Convention against Torture, presented by the Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Ouahbi.
During this presentation, Mr. Ouahbi mentioned the examination, next September, of the preliminary national report on the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearances by the ad hoc UN committee, indicated the government spokesman, Mustapha Baitas, during a press briefing following the Council.
Also, the Minister of Justice presented the 5th national periodic report on the implementation of the Convention against Torture, added Mr. Baitas.
These UN deadlines demonstrate Morocco’s determination to respect its international commitments in the field of human rights and to interact responsibly and regularly with the treaty bodies, within the framework of a particular dynamic, which includes the examination of reports whose presentation has reached the deadline and participation in constructive exchanges with the UN control mechanisms, capable of highlighting national achievements and reform projects in the field of human rights, he noted.
