Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will leave for New York today to participate in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, where he is expected to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, reports Kathimerini, quoted by BTA.

The meeting will probably take place on Monday or Tuesday, the publication notes. Government sources indicated that Greece remains committed to the Greek-Turkish dialogue without, however, compromising its red lines on sovereignty issues.

Mitsotakis will address the UN General Assembly on Thursday, September 26, and hold a series of meetings with foreign leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

According to ERT TV, the Greek Prime Minister’s speech to the UN General Assembly will focus on the important global geopolitical and technological challenges of today. He will also highlight Greece’s upcoming role as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and address the Cyprus issue.

During his stay in New York, Mitsotakis will also participate in an event organized by leading Greek-American organizations in the Astoria neighborhood.
