BOLZANO. A 26 year old Moroccan will be expelled from Italian territory, after having some items stolen from Upim and be returned to the shop wearing a jacket stolen shortly before. This is what happened on Saturday afternoon in Via Museo, when the police received a call from the manager of the business, reporting a theft in progress with the perpetrator on the run.
Once on site, the officers from the Bolzano Police Headquarters listened to the story of the shopkeeper, who explained how shortly before a young man, after having wandered around the shop in a suspicious manner, had been caught inside the shop wearing a jacket on display for sale, inside which he had hidden other items of clothing, and then walked past the cash registers without paying for the stolen goods and fled.
While the police were still listening to the manager and collecting testimonies from those present, the boy returned to the store still wearing the jacket and other stolen items of clothing, asking to recover some personal effects allegedly forgotten in the store at the time of the escape.
The officers stopped the individual, later identified as RO, a 26-year-old Moroccan citizen illegally residing in the State and with numerous criminal and/or police records for crimes, especially against property, and took him to the offices in Largo Palatucci for further investigation.
The stolen goods, all recovered by the police, were fully returned at the shop, At the end of the Judicial Police proceedings, the man was reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the crime of aggravated theft.
The Police Commissioner of the Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori, therefore, in consideration of what happened and the previous convictions against him, has issued a decree of expulsionwith a simultaneous order to leave the national territory.
“The timely request for intervention by the Police was essential in order to identify and report to the Judicial Authorities a convicted serial criminal who was wandering around the streets of Bolzano – Sartori highlighted -. The episode clearly demonstrates the importance of reporting to the Police any illegal or potentially dangerous situation, in order to prevent the commission of crimes and bring to Justice those who, even in an arrogant and provocative way, have made crime their lifestyle”.
