Lebanon’s Hezbollah announced today, Saturday, that the prominent leader Ahmed Wahbi, nicknamed “Abu Hussein Samir”, was killed in the Israeli raid yesterday, Friday, on the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Wahbi is one of its most important military leaders who played a major role during the escalation between Hezbollah and Israel since October 8. He is the second leader that Hezbollah has revealed was killed in the same Israeli raid that killed the commander of the “Radwan Force,” Ibrahim Aqil, on Friday, as well as killing 15 other Hezbollah leaders.

Who is Ahmed Wahbi?

Wehbe was born in the town of Adloun in southern Lebanon on November 1, 1964. He joined the party since its founding and participated in many military operations against the Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon. In 1984, he was captured in Israel.

Hezbollah said in a statement that “Wahbi became responsible for the ‘Central Training Unit’ until 2007, and played a pivotal role in developing the party’s human capabilities. He assumed responsibility for training in the ‘Radwan Force’ until 2012.”

Wahbi was also one of the main leaders in confronting the attacks on Lebanon’s eastern borders, and in various Syrian provinces.

He led the Radwan Force military operations from the beginning of the battle between Hamas and Israel on October 7 until early 2024, then returned to assume responsibility for supervising the Central Training Unit after the killing of Wissam al-Tawil.
