(ANSA) – ROME, SEPTEMBER 22 – After a period of calm, migrant landings are back, with over a thousand people arriving on Italian coasts in two days. Even though the numbers in 2024 are still far from those of last year, when landings were three times as high. The issue of migrants will also be on the table at Palazzo Chigi: a summit between the government, entrepreneurs and unions is scheduled for the next few hours to address the new legislation for regular workers, with changes to the flow decree and the possible abolition of click day. The measure could reach the Council of Ministers at the end of the month and also contain measures to deal with attacks on doctors in hospitals. It was Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni who raised the issue of click day, filing a complaint with the Anti-Mafia Prosecutor’s Office in June in which she denounced that legal entry flows are being used as “an additional channel for irregular immigration”, with the specter of being directed by organized crime.
