jpnn.com – Indonesian men’s doubles pair Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin successfully booked tickets to the 2024 China Open semifinals.

Fikri/Daniel entered the top 4 of the BWF Super 1000 tournament after defeating the Danish duo Rasmus Kjaer/Frederik Soogard in two straight games 21-19, 21-19 at the Changzhou Olympic Sports Center, Changzhou, Friday (20/9/2024).

With their determination, Fikri/Daniel managed to escape from difficulties when facing the world’s 14th ranked men’s doubles.

“Thankful to win the match, but today our game was not good enough. We have to fix it in the semifinals tomorrow (today, ed),” said Daniel in an official statement.

“In the second game after falling behind, we tried to force it, tried to be reckless, then we found a way. The right strategy was implemented at the end of the match, we held the serve and the first one and two shots. From there, we got a lot of points and the opponent was under pressure,” added Fikri.

Fikri/Daniel cannot relax because a tough test awaits in the semifinals of the 2024 China Open.

The new men’s doubles pair will compete in the Nusantara derby against Malaysian representatives Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin.

Goh/Nur successfully stepped into the final four after defeating fellow Malaysian representatives Man Wei Cong/Kai Wun Tee.
