BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu said that the current government should take initiative for a good election. With that initiative, the countrymen will be with this government. Through good elections people of this country will be able to vote for the candidate of their choice.
He said these things at a discussion meeting organized by the Bangladesh Nationalist Citizen Party at Jahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of the National Press Club on Sunday (September 22).
Dudu said that many brothers and sisters are still injured and hospitalized in the movement to overthrow dictator Sheikh Hasina. The government has assured them of cooperation. This hope to the government will help them quickly.
He said, people had forgotten the freedom. People had no rights. The people lost their right to vote for the candidate of their choice. This Awami League government has looted without limits. The leaders and workers of a party, the family of the party chief looted from every sector of the country and smuggled money abroad.
Claiming the interim government, the former Chhatra Dal president said that the despotic Awami League government has given millions of weapons to its leaders and workers. Those weapons must be taken into the custody of the current interim government.
He said, BNP and countrymen expect this government to give a good election. For a good election, to establish voting rights of the countrymen, BNP Agagora will be with this interim government. Acting chairman of the party Tariq Rahman has expressed his support to this government – so that this government can work smoothly and give a good election.
He said, Awami League did not allow the people of the country to vote. So the people of the country sent away the Awami League. They believe that the interim government will restore the voting rights of the people of the country. Not only the people of the country but also the people of the world believe it. This is why the government should be careful. In order to move towards the election, we have to work for it.
He said that conspiracies are being made in various places including the hilly areas of the country. Even the incident that happened in Baitul Mukarram is very reprehensible and alarming. That is why this government must be careful to establish the democracy demanded by those who liberated the country with a sea of blood and sacrificed their lives in the movement and the overthrow of dictator Sheikh Hasina.
At that time, Dudu said to party leaders and countrymen that Awami League fascism cannot be considered destroyed. They are plotting again. They have huge money and weapons. A big country is supporting them. Therefore, there is no opportunity to look down. So everyone should be united and cooperate with the government.
