Millions of passengers travel on buses and trains at a flat rate of 49 euros per month. But a price increase is on the cards. The Alliance warned.

Berlin.

A possible price increase for the Deutschlandticket was rejected by a coalition of social and environmental groups, business groups and the Protestant Church. “The German ticket must not become a short event in the history of our country. It must be established forever and with stable prices,” said the Alliance for Socially Compatible Mobility before the price decision this Monday. “Soft and sustainable mobility is part of public works must not end in city, district or state borders,” he said.

The German ticket for 49 euros per month is valid from May 1, 2023. It gives you the right to travel throughout the country on all local and regional buses and trains, but not done on long distance trains. The ticket is intended as a subscription, but can be canceled monthly. For passengers, especially in urban areas, it is often cheaper than previous season tickets.

The transport ministers of the federal states want to agree on the new price on Monday. There is talk of increases to 54, 59 or even 64 euros per month for the next year. What will happen with the Deutschlandticket after 2025 is still unclear.
