Everything is ready for the national drill in the capital: Urzúa

With the aim of putting into practice the protocols for action in case of emergency and promoting the culture of prevention, this September 19 Mexico City will join the national drill, reported the head of the Secretariat for Comprehensive Management of Risks and Civil Protection, Myriam Urzúa.

At 11:00 sharp, the Seismic Instrumentation and Recording Center (CIRES) will activate the seismic alert that will be broadcast in 13,989 points of the City, through the loudspeakers of the Command, Control, Computing, Communications and Citizen Contact Center (C5).

It will also be broadcast on television and radio stations that have this service, and in public and private buildings of the Mexico City that have the receivers installed, explained the person in charge of civil protection in the country’s capital.

In a press conference, Urzúa explained that for this occasion the simulation will have as a hypothesis a 7.5 magnitude earthquake, with an epicenter located in Acapulco, Guerrero.

“At the time of the activation of the alert, the protocols of the City’s Seismic Emergency Plan will also be activated, as well as the pyramidal territorial coordination and the Emergency Committee that will be installed in the C5, headed by the Head of Government,” he explained.

Likewise, the National Coordination of Civil Protection will activate an alert on cell phones located in Mexico City and the metropolitan area, in which a sound will be emitted and a text message will be received that will refer to the drill.
