According to expert Dmitry Snegirev, it may take Russia from six months to a year to dislodge the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the Kursk region. He noted that although the Russian army is attempting to counterattack, serious obstacles are created by its own engineering and fortification structures, previously erected in the region.

Dmitry Snegirev stated this in an interview with the FREEDOM TV channel.

Snegirev specified that the most optimistic scenarios could take at least six months to implement. However, most observers believe that the operation will last about a year, provided that the Russian command can redeploy the required number of combat-ready units. For this, troops are being transferred from other sections of the front in Ukraine, as well as from the rear regions of the Russian Federation, including the Kaliningrad region.

The expert added that the complexity of the situation for the Russian army is aggravated by the maneuvering tactics of the Ukrainian forces, which are conducting both defensive and offensive actions in the Kursk region. Also, the region’s landscape, represented by forests, complicates the actions of Russian troops and reduces their ability to provide logistics.

In addition, according to Snegirev, Ukrainian troops are conducting successful operations in the rear of the Russian group, especially in the Sudzhansky and Korenevsky districts, which makes the process of displacing the Ukrainian Armed Forces even more difficult for Russia.

Earlier, “Kursor” reported that Russia knew about the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ offensive in the Kursk region several months in advance.

Documents have emerged indicating that the Russian Federation knew in advance about the plans of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to enter the Kursk region.
