Speaking at a workshop on “the decline in start-up investments: are investors moving away from Africa?”, organized as part of the 2nd edition of Gitex Africa Morocco, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Mr. Laghzioui affirmed that several investment funds intend to invest in the African continent, and in Morocco in particular, in addition to local investment funds, which aspire to “meet current economic challenges, convinced of the continent’s potential and its skills.”
The economic expert also noted that these funds are convinced of the attractiveness of the Moroccan offer, thanks to the Kingdom’s good infrastructure, logistics and digital services and “the pioneering role of UM6P in research and development”.
In this sense, he highlighted the awareness of government and private actors of the importance of facilitating investment procedures for start-ups, noting that Africa is full of local skills.
Furthermore, Mr. Laghzioui specified that the 2nd edition of Gitex Africa Morocco reflects the positioning of Morocco, as a hub of innovation in several vital sectors that are at the heart of challenges, not only in Morocco, but also on the African continent and the whole world, noting that UM6P Ventures works to strengthen Morocco’s place in the field of revolutionary technologies, through the promotion of research and development results and advanced architecture.
