The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 21st that Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tae-yeol agreed to establish a “strategic dialogue” between the foreign ministries of the two countries during a meeting with his Czech counterpart Jan Lipavski.

Minister Cho, who is accompanying President Yoon Seok-yeol on his official visit to the Czech Republic, held a Korea-Czech Republic foreign ministers’ meeting in Prague on the 20th (local time) and agreed to strengthen strategic communication.

Minister Yang agreed that the selection of ‘Team Korea’ led by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power as the preferred bidder for the Dukovany nuclear power plant construction project should be used as an opportunity to expand cooperation between the two countries in all directions.

In addition to establishing a strategic dialogue between the foreign ministries of the two countries, they agreed to regularize and activate detailed consultative bodies such as the Economic Joint Committee, Cyber ​​Policy Council, and Policy Council.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reported that Minister Yang expressed satisfaction with the adoption of the ‘Joint Statement on Strengthening the Korea-Czech Republic Strategic Partnership’ and the ‘Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategic Partnership (2025-2027)’ during President Yoon’s official visit to the Czech Republic.

In addition, Minister Yang agreed to work toward holding the second Defense Industry and Military Supply Joint Committee within the next year to have in-depth discussions on specific cooperation projects between defense industry authorities.

This is the fourth time that Minister Cho and Minister Lipavski have met in person, following meetings in Brussels, Belgium in April, Washington, D.C. in July, and Seoul in September.
