Mumbai:An oil supplier businessman fell prey to an alleged fraud of Rs 13.5 lakhs due to the greed of buying cheap gold. According to the police, the businessman is a resident of Beed. He wanted to buy a gold coin at a low price. For this, he called a friend because at present the price of 10 grams of gold is around Rs 73 thousand. The businessman’s friend told him that he would introduce him to a person who could give him a gold coin at Rs 67 thousand per 10 grams.
Shopping deals at the station
According to the FIR, the accused friend told the businessman that the person he would introduce him to had a lot of gold which he wanted to cash. So he met him at Vikhroli railway station. On September 10, the businessman came to Mumbai from Beed and met his friend at Vikhroli station. Both of them discussed buying gold coins. It is alleged that the next day the businessman received a call from a person named Santosh Gawle, who met the businessman in Vikhroli along with another friend named Rajesh Kadam. He assured him that he would get him gold coins at a price lower than the market rate.

Coin found fake during investigation
According to the allegation, Gavle called the businessman to a deserted place on the Vikhroli highway. There, Gavle won the trust of the businessman by showing him a real gold coin. Then both of them came from the highway to a bus stop in Vikhroli, where Rajesh Kadam and Ajay Sharma were waiting for them. Gavle showed two 100 gram coins to the businessman and asked if he had brought the money? When the victim showed the bag containing Rs 13.50 lakh, Sharma and Kadam handed over the bag containing the alleged gold coins to Gavle.

Later, the businessman took the coins to a jeweler, where the coins were found to be fake after examination. He called Gwale, Kadam and Sharma, but found everyone’s mobiles switched off.
