According to data presented on Thursday during a meeting of the Provincial Human Development Committee (CPDH), chaired by the governor of the province of Sidi Slimane, Abdelmajid El Kyak, and devoted to the presentation of the results of the INDH’s achievements for the period 2019-2022, some 176 MDH were released by the Initiative as a contribution for the implementation of these projects and activities for the benefit of more than 356,000 beneficiaries.
Concerning program 1 of Phase III of the INDH relating to catching up on deficits in infrastructure and basic social services in under-equipped territories, 65 projects were carried out for an amount of 64 MDH, including 63 MDH as a contribution from the INDH.
These projects concerned the education sector (26 projects) through the construction of high schools and colleges and the acquisition of school transport buses, the construction of classrooms and equipment for boarding schools, restaurants and libraries. For the health sector, some 37 projects mainly concerning the construction and equipment of health centers, rural dispensaries and a maternity hospital were carried out, in addition to the acquisition of ambulances and mobile medical units.
For program 2 relating to the support of people in precarious situations, 54 projects and activities were carried out for an estimated budget of 29 MDH, with 18 MDH as a contribution from the INDH, which mainly concern the construction, development and equipment of reception and social assistance centers in the province, support for associations in charge of managing these centers, the acquisition of electric wheelchairs and buses for people with disabilities, support for patients suffering from kidney failure, and support for homeless people, former prisoners and women in difficult situations.
With regard to program 3 relating to the improvement of income and economic inclusion of young people, the number of projects carried out during the period 2019-2022 amounts to 66 for a total cost of 12.6 MDH and to which the INDH contributed 11.6 MDH, which benefited 409 young people through support and assistance for the integration of the labor market and the provision of training in the field of project development and management and the creation and equipment of self-enterprises.
Regarding program 4 relating to the boosting of human capital of rising generations, 150 projects and activities were carried out for an overall cost estimated at 83 MDH, mainly concerning the organization of awareness campaigns on the importance of natural breastfeeding, the upgrading and extension of a delivery unit and the equipment of health establishments with medical equipment dedicated to mothers and children.
These projects also benefited the education sector through the construction, equipment and management support of 122 preschool education units in rural areas for the benefit of 5,721 preschool-age children, while 6,867 students benefited from support classes in French and mathematics to combat school dropout and more than 227,000 students from the royal initiative “One million schoolbags”.
As part of the same program, the upgrading, equipment and management support of student houses were carried out, as well as the creation and equipment of academic development centers.
Speaking at this communication meeting held in the presence of representatives of local authorities, members of the provincial and local human development committees, elected officials, heads of external services, representatives of civil society and young beneficiaries of INDH program 3, Mr. El Kyak stressed that all these achievements are the result of concerted work both at the level of administrative services and civil society, highlighting the importance of the work of CPDH members as a space for debate and discussion around all projects.
Any participatory and collective action leads to success, he said, stressing the willingness of all stakeholders to receive all requests that would help in the implementation of human development programs.
And to recall that the INDH is a national project which aims to offer quality services for the benefit of citizens, adding that it tends to support the health and education sectors and to reduce precariousness.
On this occasion, in the presence of the governor of the province and the accompanying delegation, 10 school buses were distributed to rural students (program 1 related to catching up on deficits in infrastructure and basic social services), 38 wheelchairs were distributed to people with disabilities (program 2 relating to supporting people in precarious situations) and equipment was provided for 28 projects benefiting project leaders receiving support from the INDH (support axis for youth entrepreneurship – post-creation phase – of program 3 relating to improving the income and economic inclusion of young people).
