Patna: An elderly man was attacked on Sunday in Lakhmohana village of Nawada. 80-year-old Siddheshwar Singh was shot and injured by miscreants. At the time of the incident, Siddheshwar Singh was sleeping in his house. The miscreants shot him in the hand and fled. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot and started investigating the case. The injured Siddheshwar Singh was immediately admitted to the PHC of Akbarpur, from where he was referred to BEMS of Pawapuri for better treatment. The police suspect that there may be a case of extortion behind this incident. It is being told that extortion of Rs 1.5 lakh was demanded from Siddheshwar Singh’s grandson Kumar Gaurav. The police is investigating the matter and has started searching for the accused.

A farmer was brutally beaten to death in Nawada village of Phulwari Sharif in Danapur. The deceased farmer has been identified as Prabhat Prasad. Prabhat had gone to irrigate his field, when he got into a fight with two people named Sonu and Sadan over water. The dispute escalated so much that Sonu and Sadan started beating Prabhat badly. Prabhat, who was seriously injured in the assault, died on the spot. As soon as the incident was reported, the police reached the spot and took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. The police showed promptness in this case and arrested both the accused, Sonu, a resident of Bahadurpur and Sadan, a resident of Nawada, within 4 hours.
