The duel between Austria and Rapid Vienna is always explosive. On Sunday, however, there were unpleasant riots.
After the city derby between Rapid and Austria Vienna, there were riots. Following Rapid’s 2:1 victory, fans from both camps stormed the pitch and fights broke out. At the time, some Rapid professionals had joined the fans in singing homophobic chants.
For Austria coach Stephan Helm, it is “shocking that such riots are taking place in a country like Austria. Not only can you not come to such an event with your family, you actually have to be afraid.”
