At the beginning of 2022, Björn Ulvaeus made the end of his second marriage public. Now, two and a half years later, the musician is married again.
Abba star Björn Ulvaeus has married his girlfriend Christina Sas in Copenhagen. The musician said he fell head over heels in love with his new wife, whom the 79-year-old met in Germany. She is his “third great love,” Björn Ulvaeus once said on Swedish television.
“Today, September 21, 2024, Björn Ulvaeus married Christina Sas from Herning, Denmark,” reads an entry on the musician’s official Instagram page. “They met in Nuremberg in 2021 on the occasion of the release of Abba’s last album ‘Voyage’ and started dating in spring 2022. The wedding took place in Copenhagen in the presence of close friends and family.”
On Instagram, the 79-year-old also gave an insight into his wedding ceremony, which was very casual. Björn Ulvaeus wore a grey suit with a white T-shirt underneath. Björn Ulvaeus first appeared with Christina Sas at his side in spring 2022. Most recently, the couple attended the tennis tournament in Wimbledon, among others. He wore a blue suit, a white shirt and a white tie underneath. His wife came in a purple dress with stripes. She combined it with a black bag and matching shoes. They posed hand in hand for the photographers.
For Björn Ulvaeus, this is his third marriage. The musician was married to his band colleague Agnetha Fältskog in the 1970s, with whom he has two children. Their marriage lasted nine years – until 1980. After the separation, he remarried in the early 1980s.
The marriage with music journalist Lena Källersjö lasted around 40 years. At the beginning of 2022, the couple announced that they wanted to divorce. “After many wonderful and eventful years, we have decided to go our separate ways,” they said in a statement at the time. A month later, Björn Ulvaeus appeared in public with Christina Sas for the first time.
