The Bulgarian “Sofia-Balkan” with bronze from the competition in the “Triaditsa” hall

The “Proklinik” team from Istanbul won the Cup of the international wheelchair basketball tournament for people with special needs, which ended today in the “Triaditsa” hall. The fourth edition of the competition was organized by BCHIK “Sofia-Balkan” with the financial support of the Foundation “Sofia – World Capital of Sports 2024” and in partnership with the Bulgarian Basketball Federation.

This year, in addition to the hosts from “Sofia-Balkan”, the teams of “Proklinik Istanbul” (Turkey), “Reggio Calabria” (Italy), “Hampshire Harriers” (England), “Irodikos” (Greece) and “Bijelina” also participated. (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

The teams were divided into two groups, with Englishmen, Turks and Bulgarians in Group A, and Italians, Greeks and Bosnians in Group A. On Saturday, the group phase of the tournament took place, and on Sunday, the matches for the prize places took place.

After 9 games played, the title was won by the team of “Proklinik Istanbul”, who defeated the Italian “Reggio Calabria” in the final with 83:64 points. In third place was the team of the hosts “Sofia-Balkan”, who prevailed in the dispute for the bronze against the Bosnian “Bijelina”. .

The prize winners were congratulated and awarded by Yana Genova – Deputy Mayor of Sofia Municipality, Dimitar Shalofov – Chairman of the Foundation “Sofia – European Capital of Sports” and Chairman of the Commission for Children, Youth and Sports of Sofia Municipality, Iliya Lalov – Chairman of The National Paralympic Association and others.
