jpnn.comJAKARTA – The trip of the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, to Russia and Uzbekistan was an ideological goodwill that promoted Pancasila as an ideology of peace that is thick with humanitarian values in international relations.

This goodwill is Megawati’s diplomatic step to introduce Pancasila on the international stage.

This was conveyed by the BPIP Expert Council for Foreign Relations Strategy, Dr. Darmansjah Djumala, in response to the visit of the Chairperson of the BPIP Steering Committee, Megawati Soekarnoputri, to Russia and Uzbekistan, 14-21 September 2024.

While in Russia, Megawati gave a public lecture at Saint Petersburg State University.

Megawati also held a meeting with the Rector of Saint Petersburg University, Professor Nikolay Kropachev, and was a keynote speaker at the All-Russian University Rectors Forum.

While in Uzbekistan, Megawati received an honorary professorship from Silk Road University, Samarkand, planted trees and signed the Soekarno Garden inscription at the Silk Road Tourism Complex and made a pilgrimage to the tomb of Grand Imam Al Bukhari.

Dr. Djumala further emphasized that Megawati’s visit to Russia and Uzbekistan was full of ideological meaning.

He considered the visit to be timely because the UN through UNESCO had recognized Bung Karno’s speech on Pancasila at the UN in 1960 entitled “To Build the World Anew” as Memory of the World or World Archive Heritage.

Megawati’s trip to Russia and Uzbekistan was an ideological goodwill that promoted Pancasila as an ideology of peace on the international stage.
