The European Commission proposes that Bulgaria receive 10.9 million euros for farmers

The European Commission proposed today to allocate 119.7 million euros to directly support farmers in Bulgaria, Germany, Estonia, Italy and Romania affected by adverse natural phenomena in the spring and early summer of this year. Our country is expected to receive 10.9 million euros from the total amount, Germany – 46.5 million euros, Estonia – 3.3 million euros, Italy – 37.4 million euros and Romania – 21.6 million euros , broadcasts BTA.

The announcement adds that the specified amounts can be supplemented with up to 200 percent of the national budgets. It is planned that the aid will be granted by April 30 next year. By the end of this year, the countries must inform the EC of the conditions for granting the aid. It is specified that the commission’s proposal should receive the approval of all EU countries at the beginning of October.

The Commission notes that the EU agriculture budget until 2027 includes €450 million per year to deal with market disruptions or exceptional events affecting production. The announcement noted that Bulgaria was affected by a drought this summer that damaged spring crops, especially corn and sunflowers.
