The Ambulance and Emergency Department announced, “The death of a citizen in the Washata area in Bani Walid, saying that 51 buildings in the city are being evacuated,” noting “a rapid rise in the water level from the direction of Wadi Al-Qarjuma-Wadi Al-Nura in Bani Walid,” and calling on “citizens not to approach these floods.”

The Bani Walid Security Directorate had previously announced, “The main road leading to the city of Tarhuna was closed due to the flow of Wadi Washtata and Wadi Dinar after heavy rains.”

The Directorate called on “users of the public road leading to the city of Tarhuna to take the utmost caution and care due to the warning issued by the National Center for Meteorology.”

Tininay Police Station confirmed, “The station’s patrols and the municipality’s ambulance and emergency services are deployed to secure the road linking the Nesma and Tininay areas due to the floods.”

The Libyan Red Crescent, Tarhuna branch, also called on “travelers via Tarhuna-Bani Walid to take caution due to the approaching flow of Wadi Washtata.”

Last Friday, the Bani Walid Security Directorate announced the “closure of the road linking the municipalities of Bani Walid and Tarhuna due to the rising water levels in Wadi Washata and the flow of rainwater torrents that threaten the safety and security of passersby on the main road linking the two municipalities.”

In a statement, the Directorate called on “drivers to adhere to the instructions of security patrols in the area, whether crossing or returning and staying away from the roads.”
